Hospital Social Workers can help with Disability Allowance claims and Carer Support. They can be reached via hospital switchboard and specify if you require paediatric rather than adult service.

Carer Support
Carer support is non-means tested and support hours are allocated on a case by case basis.

If you wish to apply for carer support it is highly recommended that you talk to a Paediatric Social Worker at Wellington Hospital first. The team of 3 people is experienced in helping families apply for this and can help guide you in applying to the agency to visit you and complete an assessment.

In recent years CF Parents applying directly to agencies for Carer Support hours have had little success.
